Kazakhstan was the fourth country I ever visited abroad and will always have a special place in my heart and memories for that reason. Although we were only able to stay a short time due to visa complications, we still left with some great, laughable and memorable stories that I write about in my second book, “Backpacks and Bra Straps”

Available on amazon here
This is one of the many “The Road Less Travelled” countries we visited …that is before Borat came out and gave it, for the record, a very unrealistic, skewed fame.
- Some of the beautiful countryside we viewed from the train.
- Sharing a bed in the overcrowded train
- Making new friends and learning new games
- Arrived in Almaty and immediately found a new friend and guide
- Panfilov Park, Almaty.
- One of many war memorials in Almaty
- in Panfilov Park, Almaty.
- Monument of Ablai Khan
- Ascension Cathedral, Almaty. This church was built in 1907s without any nails.
- Looking for our bus.
- Now this is “grid lock” looking out our bus window. No one was giving in.
Stay tuned for more #FridayFotos. Next week is Kenya .

Oh yay, so happy to hear that. Did you happen to leave reviews for both on Amazon? I’d really love that. I can’t wait for the 3rd either, just have to write it 🙂 After this baby is born. Fingers crossed I have a spare second for writing
I will try to do it…if I find how to do it ..am I just going on Amazon site and type the title of your books ? There is no doubt you HAVE to write the rest of this trip… but first thing first , baby is more important ..coming soon ..Good luck , Savannah
