#TRLT Tuesday Travellers – Clueless Abroad

Hello and welcome to our very FIRST #TRLT Tuesday Traveller Interview! Today I am thrilled to introduce #TRLT members Manu and Kasia from @CluelessAbroad. They are a Swiss-Polish couple who have been travelling together for more than two years. They met each other on the road and haven’t really settled since. Instead, they spent eight months in Gran Canaria, six months in SE Asia and now they are wandering around Europe, looking for great places to dive, hike, explore small towns, and spend some time out in the nature.

Q: Why do you like taking The Road Less Travelled?

A: It’s pretty straightforward – we’re not that fond of crowds. While there’s probably a great, little known side to all the tourist-packed, popular places, we just don’t feel good staying there for too long. When travelling, we prefer places where time goes a bit slower and nature is right at your doorstep. It’s nice to surround yourself with more calm, instead of shouting, chatter and omnipresent tourist groups. It also seems like on the road less travelled the locals tend to be more friendly and connecting to fellow travellers comes easier.

Q: What are your top five destinations?

A: Switzerland – Manu’s homeland. Except for the expenses, travelling here is very convenient and there’s something interesting on every corner. Also, the mountains are just breathtaking!

Poland – Kasia’s homeland. Cheap, easy to move around, with mountains, sea, lakes, and charming old towns. Way too underrated for such a beautiful country!

Gran Canaria – mostly because of a sentiment, as that’s where we met and then lived in different tiny apartments by the sea. A real outdoor-lover’s paradise and a treat for tapas fans!

Laos – most welcoming country we’ve ever been to. The people are friendly, and the nature is alluring. We’ll be back one day!

Thailand – because that’s where we fell in love with diving and Thai curries. 🙂

Q:What destinations are you most keen to visit?

A: For some time already, we’ve been dreaming about Iceland. It seems like an extremely beautiful and still wild country, with lots of outdoor opportunities and amazing landscapes. It also looks like we’ll be able to visit it this year! Apart from that, Australia. Manu’s been thinking about it for a while. Kasia’s happy to join because of the shark diving. 🙂

Q: Share the story of one of your favourite travel photos.

A: The photo below was taken in one of the ropes courses in Switzerland – not exactly the road less travelled, but something that we’ve never done before! It was a pretty big thing for us, not only because we grew a bit lazy in the last months, but also because of stepping out of the comfort zone and climbing on the tiny, 18 meter high platforms in the trees, all of it with a fear of heights!

Q.  How did you find out about #TRLT Twitter Chat and what do you love most about joining/the community?

A.
We’ve found out about the #TRLT Twitter Chat by accident – someone we’re following posted a tweet with that hashtag and we decided to check it out. It turned out that it’s one of the most popular and interesting travel chats, with a big community that’s always ready to share their travel tips – and amazing photos!

Q: What is the best piece of travel advice you can share?

A: Be responsible. Make travel choices that don’t harm the local communities, animals, or environment. Set a good example and wander guilt-free! 🙂
