#TRLT Tuesday Traveller – Anisa

Today’s #TRLT Tuesday Traveller is Anisa of @2travelingtxns!  Anisa was raised in Texas, but after college, her career took her to Phoenix and eventually to the Big Apple. Together with her friend Katherine, she runs the Two Traveling Texans blog. She has been to 33 different countries across five continents (and counting). She likes to combine her love for travel and sports – she has traveled to a Dallas Cowboys football game in London and several Longhorn football games in California. Anisa enjoys running and yoga, and typically racks up 15,000 steps each day. She does have a full-time job, but tries to travel as much as possible. Through the blog, she wants to help you make the most of your vacation days, too.

Q. Why do you like taking The Road Less Travelled?

A. I really enjoy taking the road less traveled to learn and experience new things. I really like sharing those hidden gems with others.

Q. What are your top five destinations?

A. Italy, Australia, China, Chile, and St. Martin.

Q. What destinations are you most keen to visit?

A. Iceland, New Zealand, Bora Bora, Galapagos, Belize, Croatia, and Portugal.

Q. Share the story of one of your favourite travel photos.

Anisa Basque Country Cider House

Basque Cider House – Anisa making new friends at the Basque Cider House

A. I was recently in the Basque Country in Spain. I wanted to get the local experience, so I spent an evening at a Cider House. I met an older gentleman who would use his cane to hold the glass when he was getting cider and also to drink it. Even though we couldn’t speak the same language, we bonded and before I knew it, I was using his cane for the cider, too. It may not be the best picture, but when I look back at the photo and think about that night, I just can’t help but laugh and remember how much fun we had.

Q. How did you find out about #TRLT Twitter Chat and what do you love most about joining/the community?

A. I found out about #TRLT last summer when I started blogging and joined twitter, so I have been a part of the community for about a year now.  I try to join when my work schedule allows (I do still have a full-time job).  I enjoy the chats because I have learned lots of great tips, seen some beautiful pictures, and met some great people.

Q. What is the best piece of travel advice you can share?

A. Always leave some buffer time in your planning. You never know when you are going to see something that you want to check out or run into a traffic jam. It’s better to have a little extra time to relax than miss your train/bus/plane/tour.
