AUSTRIA Photo Essay

Images of Vienna operas, Christmas markets and Sound of Music come to mind when I think of “Austria”. My first steps in Austria were when we crossed into Feldkirch for a quick sneak peak from Lichtenstein. From that moment, I knew I needed to return. That road trip was meant to only be a day trip to Luxembourg from Holland but turned into an extended three day trip through Lichtenstein, Austria and France (our first visit to Paris) as well. We had packed nothing; didn’t have a toothbrush, chargers for our phone or camera and I didn’t bring my glasses, just a pair of daily disposable contacts. What an adventure! The second time was on our way south to Slovenia and Italy. We stayed in Salzburg for a night and sang Sound of Music songs as we drove through the mountainous countryside. The last time I visited Austria was on our way back home to Holland from Italy. We stayed the night in Innsbruck and explored the beautifully lit Christmas market and drank hot gluhwein. The smells of Christmas still linger in my mind.

I know there’s so much more to see and explore in Austria, so I definitely will not hesitate to return and I hope you don’t either! I still need to get to Vienna for that opera and the amazing Norman, our very own #TRLT member, is the guy to ask!

Stay tuned for more #FridayFotos. Next week is Azerbaijan
