Book Tour

That Winter Vacation You Always Dreamed Of…

After our perfect girls skiing day, we pulled our stiff bodies out of bed and did our morning body check = ouch!

My calves felt like they were about to burst out of my skin. Following two lovely nights in the Aava Hotel, we packed up and moved a few metres to the Hilton Hotel where we would spend our final night in Whistler.

We couldn’t have asked for a better location or accommodation to relax and spend our last days in Canada. After the whirlwind of the book tour, and a physical day on the slopes, we were all more than ready to embrace the luxuries the Hilton Hotel has to offer.

I was instantly amazed and excited when we stepped foot in the Hilton Hotel, handed our car keys to the valet and were given our room keys in return.

This was our last stop and final scheduled sponsor of the tour and the excitement only increased. We were upgraded at the last minute to a spacious 600+sq ft Whistler Junior Suite. The suite boasted a modern kitchen with glossy black countertops, lots of cupboard space and a big TV and wood burning fireplace at the foot of the king-size bed which was sent directly from heaven. The slopes were just a stone’s throw from our balcony, with the Whistler gondola and its rental shop literally only steps from the hotel.

Despite our aching bodies (naturally this excludes fitness queen Bree), we explored the cobblestone streets of Whistler village, and it was strange to think I would be walking the cobblestone streets of Europe in just four days. It was all to easy to appreciate the bear proof garbage cans and surrounding wilderness, as I knew I would be missing them in the flatlands of Holland.
As night fell, Mom, Bree and I robed up and ran out into the cold dark night and climbed into the outdoor hot tub and swimming pool. I was delighted to have the steam swirl up around us as the snow fell and formed icicles on our hair. The hot tub was a great way to relax our stiff bodies.

After enjoying the sauna and hot tub, we cooked up a warm batch of gluwijn (mulled wine), lit the fire, jumped in bed and watched romances movies all night.

The hotel itself is stunning, comfortable, friendly; everything you could ask for. What a perfect way to end a perfect trip. The only disappointment was the dread that came with knowing we would soon have to pack up and say goodbye.

If you’re looking for that winter sport vacation you always dreamed about, I HIGHLY recommend The Hilton Hotel.

Thank you again Whistler/Blackcomb and Hilton Hotel for sponsoring a perfect stay, I couldn’t have asked for better hospitality!
